What is pletal tablet?

Pletal tablet is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient cilostazol. It is used to improve the symptoms of intermittent claudication, a condition characterized by leg pain and cramping that occurs while walking or exercising due to reduced blood flow to the muscles.

Pletal works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 3 (PDE3) and increasing the levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in platelets and blood vessel walls. This results in widening of blood vessels, increased blood flow, and reduced blood clotting.

Pletal tablet is typically taken two times a day, with or without food. The dosage and duration of treatment will depend on the individual's medical condition and response to treatment. Common side effects of Pletal include headache, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, and abdominal pain.

It is important to inform your healthcare provider of any medications you are currently taking, as Pletal can interact with certain drugs, including blood thinners and certain heart medications. It should also be avoided in patients with heart failure.
